Useful HestiaCP command-line (v-*) commands - JAY - 10-07-2026

Everything you can do in the HestiaCP web interface has a matching command. They live in /usr/local/hestia/bin and are run as root. A few that come up all the time:

Users and domains
Code:
v-list-users v-list-web-domains admin v-change-user-password admin 'NewStrongPassword'

SSL
Code:
v-add-letsencrypt-domain admin example.com www.example.com
If issuing fails, check that the domain and every alias already point to this server and that port 80 is reachable.

Backups
Code:
v-backup-user admin v-list-user-backups admin

Services
Code:
v-restart-web v-restart-proxy v-list-sys-services

Tips
  • If the commands aren't found, add the folder to your PATH or call them with the full path, e.g. /usr/local/hestia/bin/v-list-users
  • Most commands accept an output format at the end, e.g. v-list-users json, which is handy for scripts.
  • Run a command without arguments to see its usage line.
